UNION FIRE

2 days ago there was a firse in union on floyd terrace that practically killed a whole family. this fire killed a grandmother, mother, father, and little sister. the little sister was found laying on the floor, the mother was found clinching a fire distinguisher, and the grandmother was found hiding in the closet......the son was the only survivor. the son was rescued by their neighbor that was a liscened rescuer......the mother and father had just finished celebrating their 25th anniversary last week....and a neighbor had said if anything where to have happened to either one of them the other would not be able to live without the other.....the daughter was 13 years old in the eighth grade...she was an honors student and very popular...the brother has to now continue to live his life without his own family....i would never want to be in his shoes and my prayers go out to him.

last day of classes

tomorrow is the last day of classes and boy am i excited!!!!!!!!!! i have three classes tomorrow and let me tell you i am going to be counting down every minute...... i already know what i am going to expect though......all my classes are going to take forever to finish because im going to want them to finish to quick. the sad part about everything is that i still have to go back on monday to take another exam which i am not looking forward to at alllllllllllll........

although i am dying to finish this first semester off...i still had a good time occasionally in my classes and i also got to meet new people and made new friends....

snow

Todays weather was honestly insane......i went to work and stepped out for a few min around 10...and the snow had just started maybe 20 min prior to me going outside...as i was driving the roads were already getting slippery and extremely dangerous....i came back to work hoping it was going to be slow...but i was wrong...people are insane when the weather is bad..you would think that the snow would scare people and advise them to stay home...but nooooo.....old people are the most annoying people ever!!!!!!buttttt i worked my nice long 9 hours todays and am veryyy tired and need sleep as soon as possible.

winter vacation

winter vacation is finalllllly coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im sure this is not one person that is not excited about that. I cant wait till next tuesday....tuesday is where i can finally say i am free for a good month and a half!!!!!!!!!!! i am most def going to relax that whole month and just have fun.

i cant wait to be able to sleep late at least 1 once a week because i do still have work, but work doesnt bother me as much as school does. i cant wait for all the parties and to see all my friends i havent seen in months. Winter break is def gonna be good and i cant wait to begin it.

school

1st semester is finally almost over.....and i cant wait!!!!! i have been busting my but to do good in all my classes and i hope it was all worth it at the end. everything is being thrown at me right now all at one time and its very overwhelming. not only is school and work on my plate but finals are here and they are not fun. i already took 3 finals and got them out of the way and hoping that i did good but i still have 2 more to go and hoping for the best.

i really didnt expect 1st semester to go by so quickly, but i have to admit im glad it did. i just hope that the sencond semester goes by just as fast because i want the summer to get here already. hopefully if i work hard enough i can get into the college i want to transfer into!!!!

My day

Today my day was very busy and tiring. I started work at 8:30 in the morning. Because i work in a Pharmacy we sometimes administer flu shot clinics. Today was a flue shot day and i had to set up for it and boy was i running around like a chicken without a head. although it was busy my day went my pretty quick. even though i worked a long day i still dont mind to much because i love my job and loving doing what i do. i wouldnt change or give up my job for anything.

Soccer Game

On Monday i went to my friends soccer game and let me just say that game was very fun and amusing. Although they did lose the game, it was still fun. They were ahead in guys in the game because one of the guys on the opposite team got ejected from the game. The other team scored late in the game giving my friends team a short time to come back.

My friend was the goalie for the game and let me tell you, he was extremely anxious to play in the game. All his team mates were yelling at him because he kept on coming into the middle of the field when he should be guarding the post.

Soccer games are my favorite and i cant wait till i go to next one tomorrow.

Evel Knievel died today. He was 69. He died from complications with his lungs along with having diabetes. Not only did he suffer with his lungs but he also suffered from pulmonary fibrosis. In 1999 he underwent a surgery to cure his hepetitis c that he got from a stunt that caused him to have a bone shattered spill. In the past 2 years he also had suffered 2 strokes. He began his daredevil career in 1965. He steadily increased the length of the jumps until, on New Year's Day 1968, he was nearly killed when he jumped 151 feet across the fountains in front of Caesar's Palace.Robbie Knievel followed in his father's footsteps as a daredevil, jumping a moving locomotive in a 200-foot. He also jumped a 200-foot-wide chasm of the Grand Canyon. He will be missed for his crazyy stunts and good humor!!

reallll tired

this week has been soo exhausting its not even funny. all i do is wake up..go to school...come home and get ready for work....go to work till god knows when....come back home...do homework..and sleep the few hours i have left before i have to do everything alllll over again!!! When someone is part time at work they should not be working 40 hours people!!!!!!!!!!especially when they are SICKKKK

so ive been sick with a cold and stomache virus and it really sucks. i hate being sick i can never think right. anywayyyy its really hard to write blogs when i have no idea what to write about especially when im sick!!!!! its weird saying this but i think i miss having blog topics.

Black Friday

Black Friday is the busiest day in retail. Waking up at 4 o'clock in the morning, rushing to stores to get the best sales and reach the line as soon as possible. I didnt get the privilage of going out shopping this year because i myself had to be at work. Although i didnt go out on the biggest day of christmas shopping, i have already started buying my gifts. Out of the 10 people i have to buy for, i already bout 4 people gifts. How amazing is that, andddd its not even december yet!!!!! im trying to not leave everything for the last minute cuz we all know where that gets everybody.

Christmas is Coming!!!!

Christmas is only a month away. How insane is that. Just a few months ago we were out trick or treating. My favorite part about christmas is the decorating. The music is def not one of my favorite things about the holiday but it could be entertaining at times. This weekend at work, me and my co-worker went out decoration shopping for our job. Let me just say is was a very journeyful and interesting night. When decorating we had such a good time just goofing off and listening to christmas music. We are not quite done yet with the decorating, but its looking pretty goooooooddddd!!!!!!!

Thanksgiving Day

On Thanksgiving like most people i spent most of the day with my family. I went over my Godmothers house for dinner. My family usually splits holidays so everything is fair. For example, we celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas at my Godmothers house, New Years and Mothers Day at my house, and we celebrate Fourth of July and smaller occasions at my aunts. My godmother made us all a wonderful dinner, even though i dont really care much for turkey the food was still very good. The second half of the day i went out with my friends to one of their houses and we spent the night watching football and just having a good time.

Thanksgiving weekend is coming

Thanksgiving is one of the busiest holidays in airports in the year. There will def be some delays in the coming week in airports. Airports are not the only place where there will be alot of people. Train stations and all highways will also be jampacked. These days are the days that you have to be very careful on the road because everyone is crazy and seems to forget how to drive. Thanksgiving is the holiday to appreciate everything that you have and to be thankful for what you have and also love and appreciate the people in your life. Although im not very fond of the whole turkey dinner, i still love being with my family and looking forward to the christmas time.

Snow

So i dont think i remeber snow being so thick in november. When i woke up in the morning i was extremely shocked at seeing how much it was snowing. We are lucky that the ground has been soo hot lately cuz if not that snow would of def stuck to the ground and accumulated. Although im not very fond of snow anymore, because it cant really get me out of school, it still is a nice scene to look out at. I could sit inside and look out the window while it snowing all day. Its not even that its entertaining, it just calms me down and makes me think and concentrate. I'm sure im not the only one who thinks of snow in that way. My favorite place to be while its snowing is in my room under my covers and being nice and snuggly.

O.J DENIED!!!!

O.J. Simpson was denied by the judge today and is now facing a trial. He will be facing a trial on charges of robbery and kidnapping, and other charges dealing with sports memorabielia. Defense attorneys had argued during a preliminary hearing that the case was based on the accounts of con artists and crooks, and they asked for the charges to be dropped. The defendants were ordered to an arraignment on Nov. 28. The case all began Sept. 13 with a confrontation in a casino hotel room where Simpson and a group of men were accused of stealing items from two sports memorabilia dealers. The Kidnapping charge disputed Simpson’s lawyer, Gabriel Grasso, and argued that it was unclear whether prosecutors considered as kidnapping the act of luring two sports memorabilia dealers to a hotel room or whether the charge was based on a confrontation that followed.

Simpson claims to be an innocent man. Myself along with many other know that he is a con-artist and deserves to be in jail not only for his recent charges of robbery and kidnapping but also for the murder of his wife.

Chile Earthquake

In Chile on Wednesday a earthquake hit Chile, killing 2 and injuring over 100 people. The earthquake was said to have hit 7.7 on the rictor scale, with not only chile being affected but also Sao Paulo, Brazil also feeling some aftermath. It was said that 1,800 homes were damaged along different parts of Chile. Many schools, hospitals and other buildings were evacuated, and although they were evacauted many people were still affected by it. Surprisingly many people are questioning why there wasn't more destruction then there was. They say for such a strong earthquake there should have been alot more damage, but luckily there wasn't.

A-ROD IS BACK!!!!

Alex Rodriguez is back in pinstripes!!!! A-Rod seems to have had a change of heart in what clubhouse he would like to himself in. After opting out of his contract with the Yankees he has decided to make a deal with the Yanks one more time. He has spoken with the Steinbrenner family about having a 10 yr, $275 contract. Along with his contract there would be incentives in the deal that would push the total value higher. Although there was some controversy with A-Rods image because of his opting out, i am sure that every single Yankee fan will be very happy to see him back for another 10 years.

RIP Donda West

Donda West was the mother of a talented Hip Hop singer, Kanye West. Mrs. West died of complication on Saturday November 10,2007. It was said that she died of complications from her surgery. Mrs. West was only 58 leaving her son that she was extremely close to behind to continue his singing career. The mother and son were extremely close to one another ever since his father left them at the age of 3 and Mrs. West was left to raise Kanye on her own. Mrs. West would always be at his award shows and parties giving her little boy confidence and support. Not only was Donda West a mother but she was also a chief executive of West Brands LLC which was the parent company of her sons enterprise.

Strike

This strike that had been going on for almost one week is really ridiculous in my opinion. I really hope that everything gets cleared up with all the writers because many channels are going to lode viewers and money because of the shows that have to be cancelled because the writers wont write new episodes to their show. One show imparticular is Grey's Anatomy. That show is my favorite and without that show my week is def incomplete. I hope this feud is resolved soon because not only are tv shows being canceled but big screen plays are also being canceled such as beauty and the beast and many more.

Democrats/Republicans

As of today Clinton has a 20 point lead over her rival democrat, Giuliani. Not only is Clinton in the lead by the democrats are feeling good right about now. Democrats are in a double digit comfortable lead against the republicans in the generic public ballot for the White House. Although Clinton is in the lead for the Democratic presidential nomination, Guiliani is in the lead for the GOP presidential field in the poll.

In the Democratic race, Clinton, the senator from New York, leads Illinois Sen. Obama nationally, 47-25 % with former North Carolina Sen. Edwards coming in third at 11%. It claims to be that Clinton has a constant lead over Obama because of her past experiences.

J.K. ROWLING

Rowling is sueing a small town publisher in Michigan over plans to release a book version of a popular website dedicated to the boy wizard. She claims that the book is extremely similiar to her own work and says that "RDR Books will infringe on Rowling's intellectual property rights if it goes ahead with its plan to publish the 400-page "Harry Potter Lexicon"". She also stated that this would cause many problems in the future when it came to later wrting a Harry Potter Encyclopedia.

Halloween

This halloween was very eventful for me. I had school, then work, and saving the best for last a party! While at work someone got arrested for committing fraud. It was amazing how everything happened so fast, and how nervous the customer got when they saw the cops walking through the door. It's amazing how when people deny of doing anything is when you can truly see if they are lying or not. I ended my day with an amazing party, but sadly i had to end things early considering i have work extremely early in the morning the next day. I hope every holiday is as fun as this one.

Baseball

Sooooooo.......sadly the Boston Red Sox won the world series against the Colorado Rockies. Although the Red Sox are complete rivals with the New York Yankees, every team deserves to have spot light especially if they worked hard through out the whole season. Even though i wish the Yankees could of won the World Series in some way im not to upset that the red sox won because they are part of the american league team and they can show people in baseball that the american league is a much stronger and better league then the national league.

Enough about the Red Sox.......the Yankees is who o mainly care about. The mos recent news facing the Yankees is that Alex Rodriguez has opted out of his 3 yr remaining contract and is now going to become a free agent. Brian Cashman of the Yankees has made it clear that he would not negotiate if he opted out. Another story in the latest Yankees news is that they have finally given an offer to Joe Girrardi for Joe Torre's former position as manager. No answer yet as to whether or not he will accept the offer, but a good canidate indeed.

Malibu, California Fires

Last week in Malibu, California, many dangerous exotic fires broke out. Many celebrities homes were damaged and destroyed in these fires. They say the fires broke out because of how hot it was in the area. Tragedies like this one make me realize how lucky we are living in New Jersey. I think New Jersey is like a little piece of heaven because of how many storms we have weathered. My heart goes out to all the families that have been struck with tragedy, by losing their homes in the fires. Today many people are beginning to clean up their homes from the fires and trying to fix their homes back to what it looked like before the tragedies. I wish all the families in California luck and hope they stay strong throughout their hard times.

Antagonist

The antagonist in the movie Stranger than Fiction was Karen Eiffol. Karen was the writer of the book that she was writing in movie. Karen wrote a book based on Harold Crick's life, and as she would write something in her book, things would happen to Harold as she wrote it. Once Harold figured out what Karen was up to, he did all he could to find her and convince her to change her mind about the ending of the book. Karen did write the ending of the book with him dying, but later changes the ending to Harold getting hit by the bus and later living in a miracle, all thanks to his wrist watch that was embedded in his wrist.

Protagonist

The protagonist in the movie Stranger than Fiction was Harold Crick. The film was based on Harold's life making him the obvious main character. Although Harold does not have too good of a life in the beginning, he makes a huge turn around at the end of the movie. He also overcomes many obstacles in order to make his life a lot better. The movie def would not have been the same if the writer of the book had never changed the ending.

Yankees

For the past 12 years the yankees have had the best manager ever in baseball. Joe Torre would have to be the best team manager ever. I had never seen a coach/manager have so much passion and love for their team like he did. Joe fought for his team as hard and as long as he could. For 12 years he brought his team to championships and world series games. Together they overcame hard obstacles.

Until recently George Steinbrenner had given Joe a choice. The choice being to either take a 1 yr contract with the Yankees and get paid 5 million dollars with a few draw backs. I believe Joe made the right choice not taking the offer. I think this because if George really missed and wanted Joe to come back to join the Yanks he would of made an offer as soon as possible opposed to making an offer 2 weeks after the season was over.

Although Joe was a great asset to the yankees im sure that that ball club will be able to find someone to fill Joe's shoes. The yankees have many great men to choose from. Mattingly and Girardi are two great possiblitlies, and i know that the yankees along with the fans would be happy with either or.

britney spears rumors

Since this week was open topic week i chose to write about britney spears. On my behalf i cant stand the girl, but even though i dont like her it doesnt mean that all these reporters should be all up in her business either. The girl obviously has something wrong with herself. whether it be pychological or whatever. I think the person to blame for all her problems is her mother. Her mother pushed her until she couldnt be pushed anymore. Her mother claims to love her so much but if she truly loved her daughter she wouldve never let anything bad happen to her. For example, she would of never gotten her kids taken away, married a piece of trash that just married her for her mother, and is now possibly going to jail for committing a hit and run. The latest thing in news about our one and only britney is that she got surgery on her lips. I dont know why these people keep invading her life, it is not like anything special or surprising is going to happen.

Neat vs. Sloppy People

Neat people are most def more organized. Sloppy people can care less about anything at all. When you walk into a sloppy persons room, it looks like a hurricane hit it. Clothes would be lying everywhere and nothing would be in order. In a Neat persons room everything would be set aside neatly and organized. As i got older i learned that being a neat person makes things a lot simpler in the long run.

I would probably consider myself to have O.C.D. in certain ways. I wouldn't say that i have it to an extreme but i do get bothered by a mess and disorganization. If papers are splattered everywhere, i have to staighten things out. If cabnits or drawers are open for no reason i get an urge to close them. Everyone could be messy at times, because sometimes your just to busy to think of organization, but there should be no reason to be messy all the time.

Comparison & Contrast

The last time i compared and contrasted something was when i didnt know whether to go out with my friend eliana or go see my bf. The comparison between the two was that i care about them both very much and i enjoy being with them equally. I have the same amount of fun when im with them both and thats what makes it so hard to choose between the both of them. Whats different between both of them is that im able to talk about everything with her especially the girl things and with my bf i just talk about certain things with him. I finally chose to hang out with my friend eliana because now that we both go to different colleges i barley get to see her. I would probably say i get to see her maybe 3 or 4 times a month compared to what i used to see her, when i saw her everyday for the past 11 years.

Contrasting

In my math class we are learning how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions. One example of the the problems we are learning is something like this;

[1/4-(1/2)4] / (3/4)2

In order to solve this you have to follow the rules:

1) follow order of operations
2) do things in perenthesis
3) divide
4) multiply
5) add

*as long as i follow each step correctly and follow the rules, there is no way i can go wrong.

There are many contrasts between math and english. One contrast is that in english you have to have an open mind when writing and you cant be wrong when answering the question in the essay, and in math you must follow rules in order to answer a question. They also contrast because in math you deal with numbers more then you do with words.

They are similar because they both involve using rules to answering questions. They also both have sequences to answering each question.

Ways To Lie Part 2

Erickson believes that lies are sometimes necessary for many reasons. One major reason he believes that lies should be told at times is so that people's hearts are not broken. Another reason is so relationships, whether it be a relationship wit a family member, friend, or boyfriend/girlfriend, do not get jeopardized. Most people tell lies so they can stay with their loved ones. Although lies can and sometimes do come back to haunt you, sometimes it can be for the best. As long as the lie is not something really bad that one day you will regret it, there is nothing wrong with lying once in a while.

I believe that the white lies are sometimes necessary. I believe this because i am the type of person that doesn't like to hurt anybody. I also hate having people mad at me, so i would do anything in my power to keep the people i care about happy and safe. Although i might tell a white lie every now and then, i sometimes choose to later tell them the truth, depending on what the lie was about.

Ways To Lie

Out of all the lies that Erickson spoke about, the three that stand out the most to me is "the white lie", "omission", and "the out and out lies". In my true opinion i believe these are the three lies that are committed on a daily basis by children and adults. I think adults commit the omission lies more the than children, but when it comes to the out and out lies and the white lies, i believe that kids are more often to give in to those. Lies are not always told to hurt someone or to be given in a bad intention. Sometimes they are given so that the "truth doesn't hurt" as much.

A white lie is most likely told everyday. This type of lie is mostly used towards family and friends. For example, if your mother asks your father if she looks good in those pants, and the father says yes, but really in his head he thinks she looks horrible; the father is really telling a white lie in order to not hurt her feelings and at the same time feed her a compliment. Lies are not always meant to hurt someone. Omission is another type of lie that Erickson spoke about. An omission lie is when someone tells somewhat of the truth but at the same time leaves of a few details. Omission in my opinion is commonly used by kids when they get in trouble in school.

The lie that stung me the most was the out and out lies. When someone is telling an out and out lie, you can tell that its a bold face lie. There is no innocence when it comes to someone telling that type of lie. An out and out lie is the easiest type of lie to tell when someone is lying to your face, because there is no way around the lie. This lie struck me hard because with this type of lie there is no doubt my mind whether someone is telling me the truth or not.

Generalization

To me the generalization "good things come to those who wait" is extremely important to me. I was always one he struggled with school, and would have to study my butt off in order to do good on my exams. There were times where even though i would study, i just wouldnt be satisfied with the grades i received. All my friends were honors students, where i was your average student with the mediocre grades.

I never believed in the saying " good things come to those who wait" until my last year in middle school. I had never recieved honors until my first marking period in the 8th grade. As i attended my 8th grade graduation, i saw all my friends receiving all types of awards for their achievements throughout their years in middle school. While sitting there i wondered, "i worked as hard as these other students, how come im not getting rewarded for it"? I thought to myself just because i didnt have straight A's doesnt mean i should'nt be rewarded. As waiting for the awards ceremony to be over, the very last award was for the person that worked their hardest throughout their 3 years in middle school. When the teacher was talking about the student who would be receiving this award, i thought to myself, "i wish i could get this award", until finally my name was called for the award. The minute i heard my name i was in complete shock and astonishment. I never thought in a million years i would ever recieve that award.

Until this very day today, i strongly believe in the saying "good things come to those who wait". Althought i might not get awards everyday for all my hard work i put into my school life, i still feel as though i come to school with a positive mind to do good and accomplish my goals. My graduation made me realize that i should always work hard, because in the long run i will never regret it, and will always look back on the good i have accomplished and be proud of myself.

I really rather have a topic to write about, because it is a lot easier to speak your mind when you are focused on one thing, but because i dont have a specific topic i guess i will just write what ever comes to mind. I guess i can just focus on what i did today, and how my day turned out. My day didnt start off to great, for the fact that i put my heart and time into something and in the end it didnt really pay off. As the day progressed it got somewhat better. My math teacher is who really put me in a good mood, because he always knows what to say to make me laugh, even though with what he says, its the same thing all time.

Coming into work i really wasnt in a good mood what so ever. I didnt feel like tending to anyone, and anyone with an attitude would just get it right back. Im not the type of person to give attitude but everyone has their days. As the time at work passed i noticed i wasnt the only one that was down. My friend also wasnt acting her normal self, so i asked her what was wrong. She had told me she wasnt having a good day, because her uncle had passed away.

When my friend told me that her uncle passed away, in a way i felt kind of selfish. Im here complaining of a bad day because of a class that didnt make me to happy, and heres my friend mourning a loved one. Everyone had their bad days, but no one should have to go through a loved ones death the way she did today.

Alpha, Betta & Gamma Girls

Betta girls are def better then the alpha and gamma girls. Betta girls are better then the alpha and gamma girls in almost everything. The alpha might be prettier but the betta's are smarter and much better at school. Betta girls are also better runners than the alpha girls. They also have a smarter view on things, and think a lot more logically then any other girl group. Guys might not agree because guys are more attracted to the alpha girls, considering they are the pretty ones.

Whitney is one betta girl in school that would love to become a alpha all because of their looks, and how they get responses from guys. She was very smart and did well in school, but all that would change because of the pressures from the alpha's. Whitney was so hypnotized with becoming a alpha that she changed her whole look, because she was scared that the alpha girls would turn her away.

Whitney did anything in her power to try and get the attention of the alpha girls. She tried to listen to their conversations, she would try to get in on their conversations, she would just try and do anything to just try and fit in. The more she tried to fit in, the more the girls turned her away, and showed that they didn't want to have anything to do with her. Until Whitney finally realized that the alpha girl group was just not for her, she finally gave up. She thankfully went back to her old ways and continued doing good in school, because she finally realized that she has respect for herself.

My Cirlce Of Friends

I have many different types of friends. All my friends have different personalities, which makes me happy because if all my friends had the same personality, then life would be pretty boring and plain. I have friends that i talk to school about, then i have friends that i talk about work with. I cant talk to all my friends about the same thing, because i trust all of them with different things. I also have the friends that i love going out with, because of their outgoing abilities.

I would have to say that my most complete and complex friend is Laura. Laura has a great personality, because not only is she full of life, but she is a great person to talk to. I met laura through my job 2 years ago, and never in my life did i ever think i would talk to her the way i do today. Laura is the type of friend that i can talk about anything with. I talk to her about school, work, and sometimes personal problems.

The reason i say that Laura is complete and complex, is because she loves doing everything! She can be funny and immature at times, but she can have her quiet days. Everyone has a piece of complexity in them. I believe that her complexity is being confused about what she wants in life. Although many people have this problem, she expresses it in a different way, which makes her the person that i love talking to.

Sexuality

If i were to take Saunders' proposal to become more girly, i seriously would not mind. I don't think being a girly girl is such a bad thing. I believe that being a girly girl just makes you a better person in some ways. Then again there could be bad reasons to becoming more of a girl, like going to the mall way too much. Going to the mall allot can result in being in debt, but on a good note you can buy lots of nice clothes and shoes. Being more of a girl could also bring the deeper beauty in someone. The more beauty, the better.

Some aspects i would have to change is going to the mall allot more then i normally do. I usually go to the mall maybe around 4 or 5 times a month, and in a girly girl's mind that is def not enough. I would also have to go and do my nails every 3 weeks at the nail salon. I also think that girly girls go to hair salons allot and dye there hair way to much, so that would be another thing that i would of had to change about myself.

A Girly Girl Exemplification

My best friend is one the biggest girly girls you will ever see in your life. It starts off with wanting to wear nice skirts and dresses, all the way down to doing her nails every 3 weeks, and sometimes 2 weeks depending on how bad they are. She is a shop-a-holic. She goes to the mall maybe 2x a week, and comes back home with tons and tons of new clothes, and when she comes home she tries on all her clothes with a big giddy smile on her face. Her cell phone is a must have in her world. Although many girls think that they have to always have their cell phone, she is different. If she leaves her house and notices that she forgot her phone, she drives all the way back home just to get her phone.

One major thing that proves that my friend is a major girly girl, is that she buys a whole mess of make-up. If you were to walk in her room, all you would see is eye liner, eye shadow, lip gloss, glitter, and soo much more. She even has her own little desk with a light, just to put on her make-up. She goes to the nail salon maybe 2x a month, because she HAS to have her nails done, and if she doesnt, she gets upset. My friend also has a great sense of humor. Doing all these girly things makes us all laugh, but not in a bad way, just in a joking way.

Excuses from college students

In Carolyn Segal's essay, her tone is very strong. She exemplifies good points in her essay as to what excuses college students use just to not hand in their assignments. I agreed that the Family excuses are the most common among all the other excuses. Her tone might have been strong, but at the same time it was also soft, because she did not sound angry as she was explaining the excuses that people use. As she was explaining the excuses, there was no anger in her tone, but there was certainty.

Segal might change her tone by becoming angry at her students, and explaining how she hates all the excuses that her students give her. Her tone might also change by becoming upset with her students by being tired of all the excuses she receives. I know that if i was the teacher and my students gave me crazy excuses about why they could not hand in their papers, i would not write an essay with a good attitude. I would be extremely upset and angry, and let all my anger out as i was writing.

Pressure as a college student

Coming into college there were many things that worried me. I worried about big things such as, "am i going to be able to keep up with all the work that is going to be assigned to me?", all the way down to a small worry such as "am i going to the right class?". I learned that worrying makes things much more difficult, and that you just have to walk in with a positive attitude. Another pressure i felt coming into college was if i was going to do good in college. I was scared that i would be assigned so much that would not be able to keep up with all my studying. I learned that as long as you manage your time right, their is no doubt in my mind that i would fail at anything that i study hard for.

Out of the 4 pressures that Zinsser describes, which are economic, parental, peer, and self-induced, i only feel pressure from parental. The reason i only feel pressure from parental is not because my parents are strict with grades, but because i want to prove to my parents that i do work hard in school, and that i also want to make something of my life. I want to prove to everyone that my parents brought up a smart and child and that she fought for what she really wanted.

Colin Duffy: The American Boy at the Age of 10

Colin Duffy was a very extraordinary 10 yr old boy. The things he spoke and thought about were very out of the ordinary. When i was 10 yrs old i never thought about being in relationships and working just to make money. At the age of 10 i thought boys had cooties. One thing that Colin and I had in common at the age of ten is wanting to be successful when i got older and also being a strong person.

Writing is extremely important. In any career that someone chooses, involves knowing how write. When applying for a job, you must write a resume, and in order to write one, you must have some type of knowledge in writing one. Another reason why writing is important is because, when quiting a job, you must write a letter of resignation. Writing is very essential in a persons everyday life, because without, writing someone could never really become very successful.

I used to hate writing. Anytime i had a paper i would take the longest time to write it, because i could never put my thoughts on paper. Until my last few years in High school, i started writing a lot better. I started writing better because my teacher gave me a lot of writing assignments and as the assignments got harder, my knowledge grew. I also always made little mistakes which did not always make my paper look to good, but i learned from those mistake, and although i still might now be the best at writing, i am def happy that i got better at it.

The area that i would like this class to help me in the most is allowing myself to have an open mind when i write. I tend to always know what i want to write about, but when it comes to finally writing my paper, i seem to always blank out. Another thing i want this class to help me with is that when i write, i tend to doubt myself in anything that i do write. When i write i want to be positive that what i am writing is real good.

High School English Courses

My high school English courses were all quite similar in style. One of the few things that my English classes taught me, was how to use my grammar in the correct way, and also helped me become a better writer. Out of all my English teachers i would have to say that my Junior/Senior teacher had to of taught me the most. She would always teach us something new and be extremely elaborate when teaching anything.

Throughout my High school years i read many books. One of the few books that i read that really caught my eye was, "Like Water for Chocolate", "Fences", "Princess Bride", "Life of Pi", and "Dracula". Types of papers that i wrote were mainly research papers. My papers mainly focused on English literary works. I remember writing my last research paper. It was about three books that i had read senior year, and how they related to one another.

Out of the three teachers i had in high school my junior/senior year teacher was the best. My freshmen and sophomore teacher had good techniques but their teaching techniques were not as strong as my last English teacher. Unlike my other teachers, she gave homework everyday, and that led us to understand how to write, and comprehend things a lot better. Some assignments that led me to learning the most was when she had us read from the books we read and then write a summary on what we read. She then would have us sometimes write an essay on the book, to have us practice our comprehension, reading, and writing skills.
